Petty Officer Pablo Paredes USN (1870 - 1917)

Petty Officer Pablo Paredes, USN, was raised in New York and attended Catholic schools where he developed an abiding respect for human life. He joined the Navy in 2000, and achieved the rank of Petty Officer Third Class, but his strong moral values put him at odds with the Iraq war. On March 18, 2005, he filed for conscientious objector status but was convicted by a Court Martial on May 11, 2005, of missing his ship movement and sentenced the following day to three months hard labor.
