Bp. Hilarion Capucci (1870 - 1917)

Bp. Hilarion Capucci, a Greek-Melkite Catholic priest, was ordained in 1947 and consecrated a bishop in 1965. He served as Greek-Melkite Patriarchal Vicar of Jerusalem (1965 1974) and Apostolic Visitor of the Greek-Melkites of Western Europe. He was Bishop of Caesarea, Palestine, in exile, until retirement in 1999. His ministry later was extended to Palestinians of the European diaspora, and he has long been an advocate and activist for justice for the Palestinian people of the Holy Land.
